At our driver safety meetings earlier this year, we shared some exciting news: The new Volvo trucks have arrived!

New Features of the Volvo Trucks

This new model truck provides many comfort features as well as improved designs throughout the trucks. Many of the updates are based upon feedback our drivers have shared over the past several years.

These are some of the added and improved features:

  • Wider bunk from side to side
  • Upper bunk
  • Reclining lower bunk
  • Air ride seats on both sides
  • Steering wheel controls
  • Increased and improved storage
  • Larger 70” bunk
  • New design double hinge tilt steering wheel
  • Improved bunk window ventilation
  • New upper bunk ladder design (coming soon)

We are very pleased that Volvo has listened to our drivers’ feedback and provided many new design feature improvements.

Test Driving the Trucks

The other exciting news for our drivers is now our solo drivers will have the opportunity to be assigned to the Volvo VN760 truck which is the same for our trainers. This year we will be purchasing two Volvo truck models.

The VN760 pictured will be assigned to both our solo and trainer drivers. These high-roof trucks are 70 inches long, 96 inches wide, offering plenty of space and comfort for drivers — whether they’re on the job or taking a break.

The new VN860 will be purchased for our team drivers. This truck has many of these same improved features mentioned above. The VN860 will still have a larger bunk front to back versus the VN760. It also has a redesigned front end, including a panoramic windshield, new dashboard and optimized seating.

A Commitment to the Latest Technology

At Dot Transportation and Dot Foods, we pride ourselves on offering the top-of-the-line truck driving equipment and technology to our drivers. As one of our top priorities is driver safety, reliability and on-time deliveries, our transportation company pays special attention to the maintenance of our trucks. This level of attention to detail — which is exhibited by our drivers themselves — is why drivers love working for Dot.

Dot drivers work exceptionally hard, and we are always grateful to receive comments on what would make those hard hours on the road a little easier. We certainly hope our drivers enjoy the added comfort and improved design of the new trucks!

What truck features make truck driver life more comfortable and efficient? We’d love to hear your feedback!
